About Maxy

Malaysian Pianist

Kawai Malaysia Artist and Ambassador

Malaysian Pianist Maxy Chan exudes innate joy, sensitivity, and expressive musicality and virtuosity in her performances. Beginning piano lessons at the age of 4 with classical training, she crossed over to contemporary genres at 16 and started sharing her performances on her YouTube channel in 2011. Her favourite genres cover a diverse range of music—from movie soundtracks, modern piano pieces, new age, to contemporary classical.

Maxy Chan became the first Malaysian to win gold awards at the prestigious 2013 and 2014 Asia Piano Competition in Taiwan and South Korea respectively. She had obtained her ATCL (2010), LTCL (2012), and FTCL (2014) diplomas in piano performance from Trinity College, London.

Since 2013, she has performed in concerts and various music festivals around Malaysia, such as 10th Penang Island Jazz Festival, 11th Johor Bahru Arts Festival, 22nd Kota Kinabalu Music Festival, 41st Klang Music Festival, 3rd Euroasia Youth Music Festival, and many others. In 2017, She was invited to perform at TEDxUCSIUniversity Theme: Synchronization titled 'Get Your Life in Sync'. She also presented a lecture recital at the UCSI Piano Pedagogy Conference 2017 on Performance Perspectives on Ng Chong Lim’s 'A Distant Voice of the Rain Forest: Musical Elements, Preparation Guidelines, and Interpretations' at UCSI University. In the same year, she organised two solo piano recitals—'Today' and 'TOMORROW'— incorporating animated video clips to provide an immersive visual experience.

Following the successful solo recitals, Maxy co-organised 'The Sound of Kindness for Every Child' charity concert with UCSI IMus committee and her peers, directing all proceeds to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh through UNICEF in 2018; they also co-organised 'Music of the Heart', a concert in aid of Yayasan Generasi Gemilang in 2019.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Classical Music (Hons.) from UCSI University in 2019, she continues to play her favourite genres passionately, specialising in emotive storytelling in her performances. Since 2022, Maxy has become  Kawai Malaysia Artist & Ambassador, focusing on live performances, recordings and video shoots. Additionally, she served as an adjudication panellist at the Shanghai International Music Competition (Malaysia Preliminary) in the Asia Pacific International Arts Festival in 2023.
